Independence Day Museum Open House
The museum will be open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 4, as part of the Town of Hammonton’s 250th Celebration activities taking place throughout Veterans Park. Visitors can explore the exhibition, participate in a family-friendly scavenger hunt, and enjoy a day filled with community festivities just steps from the museum. The celebration features live music, a community ceremony, the nationwide Bells Across America observance at 2:00 PM (free bells for the kiddos), a historical encampment, children’s activities, food vendors, and more. We invite you to stop by the museum and be part of this once-in-a-generation celebration of both our nation’s history and Hammonton’s enduring community spirit.
Be sure to check out the official Hammonton 250 Facebook page for the latest updates and information on all the activities leading up to the July 4th festivities!
Our newest exhibition, Marking Milestones, Building a Community, is now open at the Historical Society Museum. The exhibition celebrates the businesses, organizations, and community institutions that have helped shape Hammonton across generations. Through photographs, artifacts, memorabilia, video presentations, and interactive elements, it explores the stories of more than 100 organizations with 50 years or more of history in our community, highlighting how they adapted, evolved, and remained part of the fabric of Hammonton over time.
A special feature of the exhibition includes spotlight display areas dedicated to several long-standing local businesses and organizations, featuring loaned artifacts, memorabilia, photographs, and historic items generously shared by members of the community. These displays offer visitors a closer look at the people, products, services, and stories that have become familiar parts of everyday life in Hammonton.
The exhibition also connects Hammonton’s story to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary, reflecting broader themes of continuity, resilience, immigration, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and community identity.
